You might remember the story of Cecil the Lion, killed by an amateur hunter in South Africa a few years ago. At the time Cecil’s killing sparked the biggest global response to a wildlife story ever. But what happened since? You might be surprised that Cecil's death had an unexpected and positive outcome, helping to increase funding for this wildlife project. When it happened, I was the designer of the original Oxford Today publication that covered the story (as this affected a University research project in Africa at the time) as well as creating follow-on materials, such as this WildCRU publication.
